 Well, after many days of trying to get my laptop to see the outside world, I've decided to nuke it and reinstall to factory default. Don't know what kind of fucked up virus/malware kills your internet connectivity, both WiFi and Ethernet were disabled, but I managed to find it.

Go me. It's enough to make me wish I still had my grumpy Val with her laptop icon to use.
