Mar. 1st, 2017 08:19 am I am in at work, though still feeling the cold that hit this Sunday. I'm likely to head home at lunch since I am feeling worn out and such.
Reading The Black Company by Glen Cook, which I swear someone suggested to me. It's not bad, just not my usual jam. Think Full Metal Jacket or Platoon but in a Conan-esk fantasy world. It is written pretty well, though the noir is thick and the grit might stick in your teeth.
I'm also into book 06, Phoenix, of the Vlad Taltos series. It's funny how I can cast a lot of the other characters (Richard Armitage and Natalie Dormer just kind of leap out) but can't seem to cast the main character in my head. I guess it's because I am not familiar with Eastern European actors with mustaches. Still loving every word and I think I am getting to the point where new to me canon will be happening.

Date: 2017-09-01 04:40 pm (UTC)Armitage for Morrolan? - because if so, he was one that occurred to me also. (He does project "noble, high-handed asshole" well -- which I say with a lot of appreciation for Richard Armitage and all the love for Morrolan :P)
And Natalie Dormer for, who, Kiera? (or maybe I just associate her with generalized sneakiness...)

Date: 2017-09-01 04:59 pm (UTC)Armitage was my thought for Morrolan, but I think Dormer was for Aliera...though she would work really well for Kiera and her other identity...although I guess you'd have to use two different faces for that.

Date: 2017-09-01 05:50 pm (UTC)I would love to be friends! I very much want more people to talk Dragaera with, as you can see :D (As I mentioned, I'm still sort of in-between LJ and DW, with LJ being my primary, but at least I've gotten in the habit of reading my DW flist consistently, and am working on transitioning to real-time cross-posting from periodic importing.)
Plus, we have a lot of other semi-obscure SFF series in common (in addition to the Craft books and Alera, I've also read a bunch of the Toby Daye books, though I'm several behind at this point, and probably some other commonalities that will emerge). Also, being fannish parents (my kids are 16 and 14, and the 14-year-old has inherited my taste for genre, more or less, although my attempts to get him to read the Vlad books have not gotten me anywhere yet. He's a Star Wars and comics fan, and tries to shame me for being an MCU-only fan :P. And my daughter is not much for fantasy, but she did really enjoy The Raven Cycle, probably even ore than I did.)

Definitely! I think even different body types, if I recall correctly that the other identity is taller.
