bjornwilde So I came across this fan theory on the New Mandalorians (Tumblr link to a text post). I call it fan theory as the animators/show creators may not have meant for things to be this awful and deep, but still...
tl'dr: The New Mandalorians not only exiled those Mandalorians who chose the warrior traditions, but those who were racial diverse. Evidence is given in that every one of the New Mandalorians shown, even the background characters, were white, light haired, and pale eyed. The language used to describe the exiled Mandalorians was also pretty xenophobic and prejudiced.
Thoughts on possible directions to Sabine's play here....
So if this is true, i.e. if I decide to run with it, would this mean when the Empire took over they advocated the return of those exiled? Like, did they say, "No, Mandalorian is Mandalorian, no matter how they look." If so, then I can see why Clan Wren and the other Deathwatch Clans might think the Empire was a good thing and how Sabine got suckered into believing in them. The Empire is xenophobia, but human is human to them and they obviously do not see a problem with different skin/hair/eye colors (see Rae Sloan, Iden Versio, not to mention the wide variety in hair color in the lighter skin tones shown in the movies).
I do kind of like this, but I am just not sure I am the person to tell this story, if it came up, especially since I completely missed the eugenic and prejudice implications for how the New Mandalorians were presented. I knew it was bad and decided it was just the one city or area of the city, in my head, but even then, you'd have to have a specific and horrible reason for the populace to be so damned Aryan.
