I think I need to rewatch some Clone Wars
Apr. 13th, 2020 03:22 pmI recently joined a pro-JEdi discord server, and so far I am pretty happy with the takes people are presenting. They seem fairly balanced in views and not cultish in viewing the Jedi Order as being overall a good thing. They do talk a LOT though, Much more than I am used to.
In one of the rooms the final story arc of season 05 of The Clone Wars came up and it has me wondering about my take on how things shook down. (Spoilers behind the cut.)
The basic take this poster had was that the Jedi Council was correct in discharging Ahsoka from the Order. They point out from a POV that wasn't Ahsoka's, she reacted badly to when she got framed for the bombing and the killing of the one witness, and that she should have complied with the clones who tried to capture her. They also talk about how she violently attacked clones.
These seem like good points, though some details I remember differently. Differently enough that I replied to Mace Windu's "We see now this was your great test." (when they invited Ahsoka back) with, "No, you jackass, it was the Council's great test and you guys flubbed it."
I honestly don't remember Ahsoka attacking clones in her escape from the detention center. She certainly fought, but I remember it as being very defensive and she dodged or leap away from the clones. Later there was when she was with Asajj and those clones cornered them but again, I don't remember Ahsoka striking any of them. Asajj certainly did and maybe Ahsoka grabbed a blaster or two, but I don't remember her attacking the clones.
FIne details I know.
I still feel like the Order discharged her and turned her over to the Republic without any attempts at questioning her.
Regardless, I mean to rewatch the story arc and try and be impartial and not upset that my baby is being unfairly treated.

Date: 2020-04-14 12:59 am (UTC)I do mean to rewatch with the view to see missteps she took or to try and look at how the situation played out in a more neutral view, but I am not going to watch attempting to accept their view. More checking my emotional reaction to the story rather than being swayed by the arguement "she did illegal things so she was wrong".

The Jedi Order expelled her for the underlying crime she was accused of, without affording her any clear process on that, in order to submit her to the jurisdiction of an authority that she arguably shouldn't have been subject to. Otherwise they wouldn't have offered to let her return once her name was cleared. You can argue the Jedi should have expelled for harming or endangering Clone troops by resisting them, but that's not what they did, so.
