Saw this on Tumblr and it actually gives me a little hope for Days of Future Past (spoiler filed essay regarding Hank with some discussion on Charles as well). I will still likely wait until it is on cable to watch it. ETA: Wait, sorry. It was this essay. Same warnings as the other.

In Penny Dreadful land, saw last nights episode and there's more evidence of Ethan being a werewolf. Nothing definite but likely damning. I think it would be interesting if he's actually some half-assed shaman or something. It also seems I need to look into the Indian Wars if I do decide to pursue him as a pup.

Those wolves were very odd!! But they did obey him, after their leader had taken Ethan's fingers in his teeth. I wonder why Vanessa and Si Malcolm don't question that!

I just saw last night's episode, too. Wonderfully Victorian! With all the period rhetoric Caliban spouts, and the presence of consumption throughout society, and the way they mistreat animals and are casually racist/sexist etc. It does everything right that the NBC Dracula series last autumn did not.

NBC Dracula started promising but quickly descended into disappointment and never rallied. PD, on the other hand, takes it slowly. We have seen the third episode of how many, eight? ten? - and only now have met all the major characters. It spared us that introduction dump thing most series do.
