Saw this on Tumblr and it actually gives me a little hope for Days of Future Past (spoiler filed essay regarding Hank with some discussion on Charles as well). I will still likely wait until it is on cable to watch it. ETA: Wait, sorry. It was this essay. Same warnings as the other.
In Penny Dreadful land, saw last nights episode and there's more evidence of Ethan being a werewolf. Nothing definite but likely damning. I think it would be interesting if he's actually some half-assed shaman or something. It also seems I need to look into the Indian Wars if I do decide to pursue him as a pup.

Date: 2014-05-26 06:08 pm (UTC)I just saw last night's episode, too. Wonderfully Victorian! With all the period rhetoric Caliban spouts, and the presence of consumption throughout society, and the way they mistreat animals and are casually racist/sexist etc. It does everything right that the NBC Dracula series last autumn did not.

Date: 2014-05-26 06:17 pm (UTC)I also love that they haven't found the boss monster yet, and that the vampires are different enough from the usual (harmed or killed my metal rather than wood, etc.) that I am kept guessing. They are very good at giving enough hints to keep you wanting to know but then keeping things mysterious.
And as gross as it can be, I love how visceral things are. Like when Caliban smeared blood over Victor's face and when Victor breathed or spoke (can't remember which is was) there were sticky strings or bubbles. Sorry I can't remember which, in a hurry and I usually need a couple of watchings to get details down.
