I think I have figured out why I've been reluctant to write, at least with my story. I need more conflict. I have the main conflict and then the MC's person internal conflict, but both of those are slow burners that occur as under currents, so I need to add in more conflicts to move things along.

I think today I will work on a conflicts outline and see what ideas I can come up with.

In other news, I keep wanting to make teams with Marvel's Future Fight, but they only give you three slots for teams before you have to pay for extra, and they only have a total of five slots anyway. I'm sort of gaming the system by having two different IDs I'm playing with though. I think I need to figure out which teams to play on my phone and which to play on my tablet. I know my tablet will be my mutant source, since that's where I paid to get Illyana. I also have a Nadia van Dyne who has potential there, so I'll likely run with a Champions team, since I also have Riri Williams/Iron Heart. I'll just need to decide on if I want to get Sam Alexander/Nova or Kamala Khan/Ms Marvel.

I have more thoughts, so I'm going to add comments here rather than clogging my f-list's feed.

I've always been one who thinks of neat worlds and plots. I blame table top RPGs, as they spark my imagination something fierce. Then came online text based playing, egroups and then LJ/DW and the journal based games. Which lead me to writing fanfiction, which lead me to thinking maybe I could write my own stories.

Part of this idea comes from reading books and thinking "this woudl be much better if they'd done this instead".

The thing I am finding most interesting about this writing adventure though, is that the scenes I'm writing, no matter how well I plan them or run over in my head as I drive or whatever, always end up differently on the page. Which is amazing as it makes the story new in that I think I know where it's going, and it usually gets there, but it's not running on rails.

The effort of writing daily or groking the story structure is intimidating me, I must admit; not to mention the whole imposture syndrome voice telling me no would want to read this so don't waste your effort.

It's also taking most, if not all of my creative energy, which is leaving nothing for playing online, which I am kind of guilty about, tbh.

Main take away from this thinking out loud though, is even if no one reads it, do it. You'll find new aspects to the story and have a sense of accomplishment in finishing. Most importantly, I need to get into the mind set that the process is the fun part, and the pay off. Cause I know myself and if I think of the completed work as the pay off, I won't finish.

More on Future Fight

This game likes to keep throwing characters at you if you play regularly. This is a good thing, as it satisfies the need for rewards.

The danger, at least if you are me, is getting distracted by the new shiny and not developing the character(s) you've already spent a lot of time making stronger.

So in an attempt to be organized, here are teams I want to develop for each device.

Phone:

A-Force: Captain Marvel, Medusa, and Singularity. (I might aim to get Nico to replace Medusa.)


Thor Corps: Thor (Jane Foster), Groot (Thor uniform), and I guess the original Thor. (This requires me building up broThor and Groot. I do wish they had Dazzle and she had her Rock-n-Roll Space opera Thor look.


Femtastic Four: She-Hulk (need to get the F4 uniform), Crystal (F4 uniform), and Mr. Fantastic. (Once I get the Sue, she'll replace Reed.)

Spy-ders: Black Widow, Silk, Spider-Gwen. (If they even gets Jessica Drew, she'll replace Natasha. And dang, i thought I had Silk on my phone but I guess she's on my tablet.)

Tablet:

BAMF: Magik, Weapon Hex, Nightcrawler (all team members teleport and are mutants.)


Champions: Nadia van Dyne, Rir Williams, Kamala Khan (Moongirl is a stand in until I get Kamala)


Sacre Blanc: Moon Knight, Fantomex, Mockingbird


Stars-n-Stripes: Sharon Rogers, Captain America 2099, Sam Wilson Captain America. (This is mostly cause I already have these at a pretty high level, tbh.)

and I just figured out I have a second A-Force team.
