Apr. 26th, 2016 06:50 pm More on the Bartimaeus series: There are airplanes as well as trains and elevators. 100 years ago to the current time, Britain seemed to have gone aggressor all over Europe, not just the Czech Empire. Maybe in this world's WW1 or 2, England was the aggressor? Damned magicians, screwing everything over. I did get some confirmation on my seeing Bartimaeus' Egyptian boy form as being "dark skinned". Of course for England this could mean black or deeply tanned.
Oh, also, there is no mention of royalty in London/UK. There is the Prime Minister and Parliament, but no mention of a king or queen.
Watching anime again. Flying Witch is interesting in principle (this Kiki's Delivery Service but as a family...sitcom maybe?and I like the visual style. Only problem I am having is that each episode seem more interested in teaching some aspect of Japanese country life that actually having a story. For instance last episode I watched nearly have the show was spent collecting and cooking these roadside herbs which looked like hops to me. I forget the name they gave.
Also started Macross 7 as it's the only Macross series that has characters from the original and the characters it has are my favorites, Maximillian and Millia. Not too sure about the series though. I've only watched the first episode which opens with a rock concert, then there's aliens attacking the space fleet (with the civilian craft the concert is on). The standard military fighters are having trouble fighting the aliens, new special squad of fighters shows up, does a little better, then the lead singer of the rock group runs off to his own fighter, joins the battle which is still going on (how fast does this guy run?). Rock star flies circles around aliens and military alike, fires speaker missiles that latch onto aliens and military fighters, then start singing a song and rocking out on his guitar.
I don't get it.
