bjornwilde: (Hungry Bowie)
I am stuck without a mouse as Her Ladyship left hers at a playdate yesterday and now I am stuck with a touch pad. Alas, I do not like the touch pad and it makes me not want to be on the laptop.

Despite this, I am having too much fun with the new pup thread. I rediscovered my Tybalt voice while listening to Chimes At Midnight and why I waited so long to get back to the world of Tody Daye I cannot say. I am having enough fun that I am tempted to app Tybalt this month, though I am unsure of Jared Leto as a face for Tybalt. I'm tempted to try out Aidan Turner, maybe in a sandbox tomorrow. I'm open for other PB suggestions.

I think I might be letting go of Mulan this month. I love her and I know what I'd like to do with her but I fear her voice isn't fun any longer. I think I'd still like to try and write some fanfic for what I imagine her journey to Storybrooke would be.

I kind of fear for Brimstone as well. I love the character and feel I have the voice but I don't know that the pup is fun and with the time constraints I have, fun is an important aspect to anyone I play.

Which sort of leads me to Yang Xiao Long, the other voice I'm playing with in the backroom.  She is fun and recent revelations in canon have lead to interesting places in my perception of who she is and how she sees the world.

I'm torn between threading (and yet being shy), writing Fic (for either/both Sam Wilson and Yang Xiao Long), and creating covers and posting a couple of the fanmixes I've been polishing for weeks now.

And work is being hit or miss. Like no projects and then several will land at once. Internet is being weird and buggy as well.

I think I will finish my current folder, give myself 15 minutes to write, and then see where I am at.
bjornwilde: (Default)
Been a while since I've done one of these, though I know I've done evaluations of new pups.

A very productive morning, at least on the job front. Might get some threading in as well but I've still a few folders to sheer off.

Mostly, I just wanted to take a minute and look at some new voices that are tickling my fancy and I keep forgetting the slots I am saving.

Behind a cut to save your feed. )
bjornwilde: (01-Lady Trent)
On Days of Future Past:
I am getting more and more ill at ease about this movie. I am not sure if I will see it in the theater but I am sure I will see it at some point. In no particular order, I am concerned with what I am seeing of the characterizations, with the accusations of Singer's actions in regards to an underage person, and now I am hearing of Fassbender being abusive to an ex-GF. Accusations are always challenging as on one hand, innocent until proven guilty, on the other you can't ignore the possibility this person did something horrible.

On Lady Trent:
App approved, yay! Likely to EP today with her as a young child. Funny thing, I noticed her young PB is in another movie called Copperhead, and is in her late teens therein, which is perfect for the Isabella (the future Lady Trent) who goes adventuring in the world as she is only 16 when she does so. Very tempting to shift the elder PB but I like the costuming from Murdoch Mysteries, so I'll likely stick with Georgina Reilly, even if she is a few years too old.

It's funny but when I first read the book, I realized the author is very vague on details such as racial features. Thus I tried to imagine something outside of the English norm and pictured Scirlanders (her native land) being akin to Indians in skin tone and coloring. Alas, in the second book, Isabella makes a comment about her pale skin not being up to the heat of the Africa-like nation she visits. Standard English it is then.

On comics:
I spent a fair bit of the weekend reading from Marvel's Digital Unlimited and realized how great a deal it is. I may be able to scale back my monthly Marvel habit a fair bit if I keep in mind I can likely read series later through MDU.

On the Constantine trailer:
Looks good. Also looks like they are taking things much more from the movie than the comics but I can work with that. Only thing not working is John's white shirt; it is too clean and starched. It should be off shit and rumpled, as if he slept on a bench in it. Actually, all of his clothes should look worn and have stains.

bjornwilde: (Dorian)
I usually don't go for top ten lists as the end of the year is always my birthday and all the lists seem to feature things from the last 6 months anyway, but I've been wanting to do a write up of my current off stage head voices so here we go.

Jafar (Once Upon A Time In Wonderland), spoilers herein... )

Yang Xiao Long (RWBY), not many spoilers... )

Dorain (Being Human) )

George Bailey (Ex-Heroes) )

Joshua Norlan (Defiance)... )

I am going to be smart though and keep all of these guys in the sandboxes. I only have one slot open and all of my current pups seem like they still want me to tell their stories.
bjornwilde: (Mulan-OUaT)
Fighting off a vague discontent and mostly succeeding. Recently, I've been beating myself up for not being as creative as I'd like, taking the "easy" way out by making music mixes, but I realized, I think it was last night while doing dishes, that it's still creative and I spent a lot of time on it. They're musical collages and collages are just as valid an art form as original drawings. Art is art not matter the medium.

I'm still likely spending too much time on Tumblr but it is so easy to roam there in between jobs. Maybe i should read Milliways threads instead to see what everyone else is up to.

Work is smacking me around again. It's like it knows when I have the urge to thread or something. I'm hoping if I focus and kick some ass today, I can be open for Brimstone's first EP.  Work is also sucking as I have been trying to get some training for basic Mac Server skills. I got the approval but when I ask about how to set up payment for it, my manager said he'd talk with accounting about it. Yesterday I finally got work back and they don't want to do a PO but will reimburse me. Only problem is I don't have a spare $1,300 sitting around.

I also wrote up the first draft of an app for Mulan from Once Upon A Time. Something with her story a couple of episodes ago clicked in my head and now I feel I can bring her to Milliways. Still need to open a dialog with the other Once muns, when I get her approved, but I am looking forward to playing her.

And I think I want to rewatch Defiance. I've got Nolan grinning at me from the shadows.

OK, time to kick some ass and clear my inbox.

First, Mulan meets Mushu and he calls her on her shit.

Second, an awesome Marvel comic idea, the Ladies of SHIELD, and a nice redesign on Spider-Woman's costume.
bjornwilde: (Default)
Listening to the Gorillaz this morning and they are doing a great job of clearing the funk I've had in my head and heart this week.

To celebrate, give me a prompt for any of my pups or understudies and I'll write you a two sentence fic.

Current pups: Ben Grimm, Val von Doom, Jessica Drew, Hank McCoy, Quinlan Vos, Thalia Grace, Anton Gorodetsky, & Andrea Nash

Under studies: Stephen Strange, Kate Kane, Max Sterling (Robotech), Reynardine (Gunnerkrigg Court), or any others you happen to remember.

I likely won't get on this right away as I've a crowded inbox.
bjornwilde: (Default)
Getting these down with some notes so I don't forget them:
Andrea Nash: Making a daikyū yumi in Bar to help her refocus and find her center. This youtube video has a seemingly good over view of the process. These videos might be even better as they are 30 seconds to a minute for each stage. Written instructions are here.
Ben Grimm: Comes in suffering the headaches and pains from the F4's powers breaking down. Maybe leaves some dust from his skin. Asks Banner to take a look at him to give Banner some cerebral time before Ben goes back to canon for Reed to fix the thing cause only Reed can fix the thing.
Hank McCoy: From the bullying in the cafeteria, I think he needs to learn more about fighting so he doesn't panic when faced with violence.
Quinlan: Young Quin doing a floating mediation; a one arm hand stand.
bjornwilde: (Spider-Woman gotcher nose)
Another new costume idea for Jessica...I really need to get on that EP idea.

Also, with the new content from the Trask Industries website (i.e. more viral marketing for X-Men Days of Future Past), I am tempted to EP an early 70s Hank in a sandbox reading a paper or article by Trask on robotics. Maybe if I get through some of the big things on my desk I will.

Oy! Work has been nothing but tsunami after tsunami. I know I am not exaggerating as upper management has made noises about hiring an outside vendor to help with one of the projects. Which of course is sending some of us into fits of paranoia. Myself, I just wonder if it doesn't make more sense to open up a frigging head count for another production artist cause the work is obviously there if you are looking to hire an outside vendor to do the work. But I am just a gear. (grumble)

I wish I could just wiggle my fingers and get all my tags done while I work. Of course, I am sort of wiggling them now and making words so in theory the tagging could happen. Better yet, if I could just do a voice recognition kind of thing and dictate my tags. Who am I kidding, I am burnt from work. If I wasn't, I'd sneak the tags in.

Still reeling from the finale of Defiance and having to wait an entire year. What the shtako, Syfy. I don't want to say much but this finale was very Buffy.

And now, some muse musing since I have so many voices on the radar... )

Lastly, I think I may have introduced a younger friend to Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper's Elvis Is Everywhere. I don't know that I could say I am sorry.
bjornwilde: (Default)
Mostly for my own awareness, a cover for an upcoming Deadpool featuring a lot of Marvel peeps as MLP. When they put Jess and Ben right next to each other, how can I not see it as provenance?

OMG, Beast and Doctor Strange are there as well. No Carol though. : /
bjornwilde: (Default)
But first a couple of thoughts...
Throwing human Ben into this Hulk situation is proving to be very interesting, especially his talk with X. It's interesting to me how complex his relationship is with the Hulk.

I still want to play with Dr. Strange.

And I think I need to start a habit of writing for 15 minutes a day. I feel like I have great story ideas, as well as OOM ideas for my pups, but balk at the time it will take to write a full length story. I need to establish the habit and find that frame of mind where time matters less than the craft. Of course the flip side of this is being interrupted with work or home life when I'm "in the zone".
bjornwilde: (Dr. Strange)
With all the talk I keep reading about Marvel's Phase 3 and how Dr. Strange is the linchpin, much like how Iron Man was for Phase 1, I am really tempted to app Stephen. I have wanted to app him for some time now, but I haven't been able to decide which canon to use. I loved the recent Stephen who was stripped of the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme, I love him now and I love the more modern take of him and Wong from Doctor Strange: Season One. And is it really a valid way to run the character to play him from comic canon and switch to the movies in a few years? This indecision is what has kept me from apping. That and my time. Plus I'd have to let someone go. And yes, part of me is tempted to try and get my hands on the Doctor Strange movie from the 70s and run with that. Oh and then there's the animated movie that was out a few years ago.

Too Many Headvoices.
bjornwilde: (Nolan)
And watching this week's Defiance right now. Yeah, Nolan's back. I think Milliways can fix a few things they keep glossing over, like his and Irisa's fights.
bjornwilde: (Calcifer)
It's been a morning of random thoughts and now that it is lunch I shall try and capture some of them...this might be long.

On my vacation... )

Looking forward to the Creepy Doll plot though I realized Anton could get in trouble with Security for how he handles the clean up. He's too used to working for the Nightwatch and no having to coordinate with any other agency. Fortunately the Doll isn't sentient so I don't think he'll break any of the big three rules of Milliways.

Speaking of Milliways (with possible spoilers for Defiance)... )
bjornwilde: (Default)
Well I have the laptop and so now I work to convince myself I don't need another head voice. Surprise, surprise.

So after freebasing the Sarah Beauhall trilogy, three pups stand out to me... )
